Dr. Tia has spent over 25 years working at the intersection of social work, public safety, and crisis response not just as a researcher and educator, but as a clinician who has been in the field, on the scene, and inside the systems where it matters most.
Her work exists for one reason: the people who show up when communities need help most deserve the same evidence-informed care and support that they give others.
Dr. Tia's research sits at a critical and underserved intersection — the wellness, safety, and sustainability of the people who deliver crisis response, human services, and public safety to our communities.
Her primary research and practice focus areas include:
First Responder Wellness Crisis Intervention Human Service Personnel Safety Trauma-Informed Practice Evidence-Based Practice Program & Curriculum Development
Her approach integrates rigorous academic inquiry with direct practice experience — translating research into training, consultation, and program development that is grounded in the realities of frontline work.
